Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon and Tarlac Governor Christian Tell Yap led the inspection of two bypass road projects in Tarlac on April 9.

The officials, joined by Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap and DPWH Regional Director Arnold Ocampo, visited the Estrada Bypass Road in Capas and the Concepcion-Bamban Bypass Road in Bamban. The latter has faced delays since 2020 due to right-of-way and budget issues.

The nearly 9-kilometer Estrada Bypass Road is expected to reduce travel time for motorists traveling from northern areas to Tarlac’s commercial centers, while also providing farmers with a faster route for transporting agricultural goods.

Officials said the projects align with the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to prioritize bypass roads as alternative routes for more efficient and cost-effective travel amid rising fuel prices.
