As part of the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) celebration, the Department of Trade and Industry Tarlac Provincial Office conducted a Virtual Spoken Poetry Contest on October 19, 2022. The activity was held via Zoom platform with 13 participating private and public schools. Contestants were high school students and their poems were delivered in either English or Filipino language.
DTI Tarlac OIC Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said, “The students expressed their thoughts creating original outputs of poetry focusing on Consumerism. Various points were emphasized on exercising rights and responsibilities of consumers, patronage to online shopping and promotion of sustainability as consumers.”

Bagging the 1st place is Tarlac Montessori School represented by Alessandra Nicole Maniego, followed by Caluluan High School in 2nd place, represented by Gabriel Luis Mangune; and Don Bosco Technical Institute taking the 3rd place, represented by Paul Bastinne Mallari.
The CWM is observed every October of each year as per Proclamation Number 1098 of 1997. It aims to empower and educate consumers in their purchasing decisions. This 2022, the celebration is focused on Sustainable Consumerism in the Digital Age.
