An early Mother’s Day celebration for Fernandino solo parents was hosted by the City Government of San Fernando four days before the actual day on Sunday, May 14.
City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, in her message conveyed by City Social Welfare and Development Officer-in-Charge Mary Ann Biliwang, said that the activity is meant to empower and recognize solo parents and provide them an avenue to showcase their talents.
One highlight of the celebration was the awarding of the “Natatanging Solo Parents” given to solo parents who demonstrated the best parenting practices, and children of solo parents who are consistent honor students in their academics.
The “Talentadong Solo Parents” portion featured a dozen dance and song numbers while some City Government employees also rendered performances with the participants.
Attending the event were City Councilors Reggie David and Rosalie Mendoza while the program was spearheaded by Biliwang, CSWDO Social Welfare Officer Canneth Mangalus and CSWDO Solo Parent Focal Person Jemimah Shemzel Molina. (CSFP City Information Office)
