As part of the celebration of National Women’s Month, the Angeles City government led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr, officially started the free pap smear and breast examination to 50 indigent Angeleñas in Barangay Sto. Domingo on March 1, 2023.
Present during the kick off were personnel from different government offices: Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles; Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Rudy Simeon; City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, Nurse Supervisor Evelinda Mariano, and Dr. Cristine Joy Patio.
The city government targets to cater 1,650 women in the 33 barangays throughout the campaign.
“Patuloy ang pangako ko sa inyo na ang serbisyong medikal sa ilalim ng aking administrasyon ay literal na dadalhin ko sa inyong mga pintuan,” Lazatin ensures.
Pap smear is a procedure test that can detect abnormal cells in the cervix before they become cancerous.
The free pap smear via mobile will run from March 1 to 31, 2023. (Angeles City CIO)
