Mayor Crisostomo Garbo recently instructed the Mabalacat City Government-Task Force Anti Road Obstruction (MCG-TF ARO) to clear McArthur highway in Mabalacat City on Friday, September 2.
In response to the viral post uploaded by a local automotive website, Garbo heeded the call of concerned netizens to clear the road along Quezon Drive in barangay Dau as some residents took advantage of the road as a parking space for their vehicles.
Garbo said the roads along McArthur highway and other thoroughfares in the city should be cleared from any obstructions to ensure safety of the motorists and pedestrians.
The city mayor noted that apart from clearing the Quezon Drive road, he instructed the MCG-TF ARO to also clear the road obstructions at the vicinity of Mabalacat Public Market, Mamatitang, and Dolores sections along McArthur highway.
“We actually have reports from residents and commuters themselves on issues such as these, not just this particular road in Dau but also public market and other thoroughfares.
It was also reported that residents initially tried to report the same concern to barangay level before eventually venting out on social media.
“I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to listen and heed the call ng ating mga Cabalens that’s why I immediately directed the task force to monitor this. Ayokong masayang ang clearing operations for us to find out makalipas ang ilang araw, babalik nanaman ang mga nakaparadang sasakyan. One vehicle was even covered with a car cover as it was parked along the road,” Garbo added.
Spearheaded by Engr. Rodrigo De Leon, MCG-TF ARO is a joint force between the Mabalacat City Traffic Enforcement Group, City Engineering Office, City Public Safety Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the market administrator’s office.
PNP-Mabalacat Station personnel also assisted the task force in removing road obstructions including illegally parked vehicles, sidewalk vendor carts and stall roof that extends to the highway.
Garbo also thanked the concerned citizens and netizens in helping Mabalacat City improve its traffic condition especially along major thoroughfares. (Mabalacat City Information Office)
