Mayor Crisostomo Garbo on Monday, August 22, met the parents of a 1-year old baby who was diagnosed with chronic liver disease, also known as cirrhosis, who are seeking help and extending their hope amid the challenges they face in their family.
Luther and Joy Camato had been seeking financial assistance through fundraising projects from selling various merchandise outside churches and flea markets for their baby Zachary who has been suffering from liver cirrhosis since he was 2 weeks old.
Garbo offered Luther and Joy some financial assistance for Zachary’s medical needs as well as spiritual support.
“Para sa akin kasi prayers are powerful. Kaya malaking bagay sa amin yung pag pinupuntahan namin si mayor, pinagpe-pray over niya yung baby,” shared Joy.
Apart from liver cirrhosis, Zachary was also diagnosed with a neurological and eye problem. The Camato family had to travel to India in March to seek medical help with the support of the mayor.
Garbo hired the father, Luther, and took into employment in the local government office to be able to continue to support his baby’s medications and needs.
A little emotional, the parents expressed gratitude to Garbo during their visit to his office. Zachary will continue to be under observation and close monitoring through weekly check-ups at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Manila.
“Ang sakit ni baby is a lifetime battle po. Hindi po natatapos sa transplant ang lahat. Close monitoring po ang kailangan, weekly check-up po sa St. Luke’s plus maintenance medicines niya kaya ang laki po ng pasasalamat namin kay mayor Garbo sa ibinigay niyang tulong sa amin,” said Joy.
“Dakal pung salamat keng kekaming malugud a mayor Garbo keng sawup a binye yu pu kekami manibat keng mumuna, financially and spiritually. Dininan yepa pung obra ing kakung asawa at maragul pung sawup ini para makatipun ke pa pung panyali ng panulu ning kekaming warrior. Pasibayu pu, dakal pung dakal a salamat kekayu,” the mother expressed further. (Mabalacat CIO)
