Former Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. has confirmed that he will run in the 2022 national elections.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Teodoro stated “Ako ay nagbabalak na tumakbo sa darating na 2022 para muling makapag-silbi at makatulong para maka-ahon tayo mula sa pandemya at tulungan ang Pilipinas na maging handa at matatag para sa mga susunod na henerasyon.”
He added that he “wanted to do this as a public servant so I can be free to advocate this or whatever position I can best advocate the change that we need to create a new Philippines.”
Teodoro, 1989 bar topnotcher, went on a 10-year political hiatus reportedly to concentrate on the family business after losing the presidential race to his cousin, the late President Benigno Aquino III, in 2010.
He used to head the Nationalist People’s Coalition and the Lakas-CMD parties.
