Our first-ever Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz excitedly informed her followers on Instagram on Wednesday, September 8, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that she is the latest cover model of lifestyle magazine Tatler.
“Sa birthday ni Mama Mary, feeling ko ang ganda ko rito,” Diaz said.
Diaz is known for being a devout Catholic. When she was photographed holding her gold medal after winning in the Women’s Weightlifting Event (55 kilogram), people noticed she was wearing the Miraculous Medal of Our Lady of Graces.
The 30-year-old Zamboanga native re-shared her photos from Tatler Philippines‘ September 2021 issue which incidentally, is the magazine’s 20th Anniversary Issue. She was photographed by Mark Nicdao with the elusive gold medal she won at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and styled by celebrity stylist Liz Uy.
Her followers and artists in showbiz congratulated her and were totally amazed at how the photos turned out. Some celebrities commented and put “heart” and “wow” emojis.
Tatler Philippines stated that she is an inspirational woman and they loved meeting and working with her.
They also mentioned that “she embodies the same excellence and influence that define the publication.”
She mentioned in her post that she was really appreciated by her team as despite the challenges, beautiful things happened to her.
“Pagod ako nu’ng kinunan ito – pero sobrang saya ko! Ang ganda talaga!,” Diaz wrote.
