Janice De Belen wins international acting award
Janice De Belen was named Best Actress at the 2021 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM Autumn) in New York for her role in the short film “Sugat sa Dugo” (Wounded Blood).
“Thank you, International Film Festival Manhattan Autumn 2021, for this great honor,” De Belen shared on her Instagram account.
She said that any actor’s dream is to acquire an honor such as this that goes beyond borders.
She also expressed gratitude to Bambi Fuentes, hair and make-up artist, and executive producer of the film, for choosing her for the role.
De Belen added in her post that apart from coronavirus, AIDS is still a very serious concern around the globe.
In the heavy drama, De Belen plays the role Emma, a mother whose son is about to die of HIV/AIDS. Khai Flores played the son of Janice De Belen in the film.
The film was shown from October 14 to 17 at the Producer Cinema in New York.
The movie also won the Independent Achievement Award for Producing.
Sugat sa Dugo was produced by Bambi Fuentes as his advocacy for HIV awareness. He wanted to make a short film because he had a friend who died of AIDS. The film was directed by Danni Ugali.
