Kapampangan designer Mak Tumang created Kris Bernal’s wedding gown

Kapampangan designer Mak Tumang created Kris Bernal’s wedding gown

Although her wedding is over, actress Kris Bernal still cannot get over how amazed she was at her wedding gown created by world-renowned fashion designer Mak Tumang.

“I know my wedding is over. But I still have a lot to share because I owe so much to so many people for making it a success. Let me share with you my first impression/reaction when I saw Mak Tumang’s design for my wedding gown. Also, find out why I requested a 2-in-1 ensemble! As I mentioned, I let him take the lead because I trust his taste and expertise,” Kris shared in her vlog.

Kris mentioned that she has a lot of designer friends who are willing to sponsor her wedding gown and her entourage’s. It took her one year to search for the right gown and designer.

Feeling frustrated, she asked her followers on Instagram for suggestions and it turned out Mak Tumang led the voting.

She finally decided to choose Tumang to be her wedding gown designer. She even said that she herself is a follower of the renowned fashion designer. She added that she loved his creations because the designs are detailed and unique.

Mak Tumang is one of the top designer in the country. He created the famous “Mayon gown” and “Ibong Adarna gown”,  worn by Catriona Gray when she competed at the Miss Universe 2018. He is the son of Mexico town mayor Teddy Tumang.

Upon meeting him, Kris let Tumang take the lead and decide for her gown. She said she wanted a ball gown or serpentina. But she wanted to look taller on her wedding.

The second time she visited, she tried the gown on and was mesmerized and got excited. The 2-in-1 gown is a beaded jumpsuit with a detachable petticoat to look like a ball gown. It suited the personality of Kris so she can move freely at the reception.

“Gandang ganda ako saginawa niya! Wala akong pinapalitan at wala akong pinabago,” Kris mentioned in her vlog on October 12.

After the fitting, she even interviewed Tumang on how he came up with the design and what his inspiration was for Kris’ wedding gown.

“Usually, when I formulate the design, I interview the client. I ask for their requirements and what they like. We draw inspiration from the requirements and check the client’s personality and come up a ‘modern day princess’,” Tumang said.

Kris married Perry Choi last September 26, 2021.
