The newly-constructed buildings, which were funded by the city government through the Local School Board, are in line with the city’s preparation for the implementation of face-to-face learning under the new normal setting.

Inaugurated are the P29.86 million, 4-storey, 14 classroom building at Sto. Rosario Elementary School; the P26.86 million, 4-storey, 12- classroom buildingat Dr. Clemente N. Dayrit Sr. Memorial High School; and the P35.062 million, 4-storey, 15-classroom building at Rafael L. Lazatin Memorial High School.

Mayor Pogi Lazatin led the ribbon-cutting rites with his brother, Rep. Jon Lazatin, and they were joined by Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, Councilors Atty. Arvin Suller, Dan Lacson, Raco Del Rosario, and Marino Bañola; and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office Head Irish Bonus-Llego.

In his speech, Mayor Pogi mentioned that among the cornerstones of his administration is the uplifting of quality education for Angeleño youth, especially in the face of the pandemic.

“Ngayon po sa new normal set-up, importante po na masunod ang mga safety protocols laban sa Covid-19. Sa tulong ng mga bagong tayong klasrum na ito, matitiyak natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga anak sa paaralan, once na ma-implement po ang face-to-face classes,” Lazatin said.

Mayor Lazatin also acknowledged the help of his brother, Cong. Lazatin, in lobbying for funds for the local school infrastructure support.

“Mula po noon, kagaya ng aming yumaong ama na si Cong. Tarzan, ang edukasyon po ng kabataan ang una sa aming mga prayoridad. Rest assured that together with Cong. Jon, we will continue working hand-in-hand in ensuring that no Angeleño children will be left behind in terms of education,” Lazatin said. (Angeles City Information Office)
