Leni 2022 App: presidential campaign goes digital

Supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo now have a fun and easy way of keeping up with the hardworking presidential aspirant through the Leni App on Android and iOS.

The Leni 2022 App is a phone application designed to solidify support for the Vice President in the digital age by bridging the gap between the official campaign and the different grassroots groups supporting Robredo.

The app was spearheaded by the Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance, and designed specifically to point in the right direction those who want to campaign for Robredo’s presidential bid.

“The primary goal is really to double our base…[so], it’s conversion. It’s getting…soft votes from the other side. How we do this is already a hodgepodge of features. Engagement is one main feature, so liking posts, digital warriors, keeping people cohesive and engaged on the same topics,” said Karla Aguda, a member of the app development team.

The app provides each user with a set of assignments for the day, which usually revolves around reading and engaging with posts about Robredo or her campaign’s recent activities.

Users are directed to these resources – usually third-party social media websites – and upon completion, are awarded “Hero Points,” based on the type of assignment the supporter has just completed.

The Leni 2022 App is also designed to serve as a one-stop shop for all Robredo supporters who need access to material that can be used to convince other voters to consider the Vice President. There are links to various kits that can be used by volunteers.

It also has a wiki resource powered by volunteer group Thinkpedia that summarizes the articles that have been most relevant to the platform of Robredo and her campaign.

And finally, there are videos that can help volunteers learn how to campaign effectively for Robredo.

“[The] volunteer kit ranges from the conversation starters, training videos, media, the collaterals that you see, FAQs, what are you allowed to do, do’s and don’ts, if you’re being harassed, voter harassment, how far can you go in terms of your rights,” said Aguda.

Currently, the Leni 2022 App follows a one-is-to-many format, and users cannot interact directly with other users through the app. However, other upcoming features are lined up, including a way for users to get assistance should they encounter issues while campaigning for Robredo.
