Mabalacat City to stage “Pamiaduangan” visual art exhibit
MABALACAT CITY – The local government here under the leadership of Mayor Crisostomo Garbo will bring Mabalaqueño creativity and artistry to the limelight as the stage is set for this year’s “Pamiaduangan: A Visual Art Exhibit”.
Dubbed “Pamisaupan king Pamanyulung ning Kalalangan Mabalacat”, the event aims to pay tribute to Kapampangan ingenuity by promoting a myriad of visual masterpieces created by renowned artisans in the city.
“We are pushing through the exhibit as our manifestation of unity with the entire archipelago in the celebration of the 2022 National Arts Month, which is themed, “Sining ng Pag-Asa”. The theme alone sends a message that art can be a tool for transformation, healing, and recovery, especially at this time of global health crisis,” said Mayor Garbo.
The event, which is spearheaded by the Mabalacat City Tourism Office (MCTO), Mabalacat City College (MCC), and the Sibul ning Kalalangan, will feature a total of 33 visual artists. The event is slated to happen on February 14 to 28, 2022, at Mabalacat Elementary School (Gabaldon) in Barangay Poblacion.
Participating artists include Abigaile Manlapaz, Adrian Acoba, Alvin Dungca, Andy Bondoc, Arnel Garcia, Art Sumalde, Aurelio De Guzman, Billy Corcuera, Daryn Democrito Dolandolan, Demie Dolandolan Jr., Diana Gatbonton, Dodjie Aguinaldo, Gabriel Manlapaz, Gerald Dela Cruz, Hajjie Gonzales, Heidy Macabenta, Isagani Tique, Jeffrey Gabatin, Jing Sararana, John Ganiel Tique, Lloyd Dacayanan, Lyndon Susi, Glenn Magbanua, Nico Tulabut, Nicole Cañizares, Noel Tulabut, Ramil Tumampos, Rod Siron, Ronald Buenacifra Jr., Sara Estanislao, Sherwyn Castro, Simkin de Pio, and Roseller Romero.
The art exhibit is co-presented by the MCC Student Council, MCC Pantalakayan, and the Department of Education (DepED).
Meanwhile, Presidential Proclamation 683, Series of 1991 declares the month of February of every year as National Arts Month in the Philippines. The annual celebration is led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
“Art is an expression of one’s self, it is the soul of the community. The pandemic may have diverted us in a different direction but our appreciation and love for the arts remain the same.
