Taking his administration’s promotion of culture and the arts to a higher notch, Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has vowed to establish a permanent gallery where Mabalaqueño artists can exhibit their art pieces and other creative work.
This was disclosed by Mayor Garbo during the opening ceremonies of “Pamiaduangan: A Visual Art Exhibit” on February 14, 2022, at Mabalacat Elementary School. In his speech, the city mayor announced that construction works are in the pipeline to convert the old Mabalacat municipal building in Barangay Poblacion into a showcase hall and a cultural hub.
“Ang lumang munisipyo po, kung makikita ninyo ngayon, ay ginagawa na para maging museo. Dito po natin dadalhin ang ating mga paintings at iba pang mga likha,” Garbo said.
Furthermore, the local chief executive also rallied on artists and local officials present to support various city government programs that lead to growth. He added, “Ang pamiaduangan po ay may kahulugan na ang ibig sabihin ay pakikipagtulungan at kooperasyon. Sana po tayo ay magkaisa sa mga magagandang proyekto sa ating bayan”.
Staged jointly by the Mabalacat Tourism Office, Mabalacat City College (MCC), and Sibul Ning Kalalangan, the visual arts exhibit marks the city’s celebration of National Arts Month.
A total of 33 artists and about 100 artworks are on display at the Gabaldon Hall of the Mabalacat Elementary School, which will run until February 28, 2022.
Also present during the opening ceremonies are Board Member Cherry Manalo, Councilor Win Garbo, Rox Peña, MCC President Michelle Aguilar-Ong, Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) President and Mabalacat City Tourism Officer Arwin Paul Lingat, MES Principal Jayson Ryan de Leon, and local artists led by Dodjie Aguinaldo.
