Despite the unfavorable weather, Mabalacat City Mayor Atty. Geld Aquino, together with Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., personally inspected Sapang Balen Creek following reports of visible cracks and erosion due to nonstop rains brought by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Dante and Emong.

According to Assistant District Engineer Agustin Dagsaan Jr. of the DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office, the creek poses a serious threat to nearby communities and may hinder transportation if not addressed immediately.

In response, Mayor Aquino immediately coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to initiate the needed repairs.

“The safety of our fellow residents in Sapang Balen is our top priority, which is why we promptly reached out to DPWH. Cong. Pogi Lazatin has also committed to help us source funding for the creek’s rehabilitation,” said Mayor Aquino.

“As representative of the First District, I will assist the City of Mabalacat in fast-tracking the funding process for this vital project,” added Lazatin.
