Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. has awarded Medals of Excellence to 12 outstanding students from public and private schools in Angeles City on July 22, 2022.
The mayor said this is the commitment of the city government to recognize the endeavors of students both in academic and extracurricular activities, as well as to inspire them to value the essence of education.
“This event also serves as the continuation of my father’s legacy, the late former Angeles City Mayor and Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin,” he added.
The following are the recipients of the Medal of Excellence:
- Junalyn P. Griñen from Gueco Balibago Elementary School
- Terrence Manuel B. Lazaro from Angeles University Foundation Integrated School
- Leila Jean Frisby from Living Stone International School Inc.
- Leandrex P. Feliciano from Claro M. Recto Information and Communication Technology High School
- Angeleanna P. Abana from Sitio Pader Elementary School
- Roshni Marielle N. Dela Vega from Peniel Mission Foundation Inc.
- Risha Jaira L. Manangan from Gov. Rafael L. Lazatin Integrated School
- Maritoni C. Palo from Bonifacio V. Romero High School
- Godwin Calleja Pring from Holy Angel University
- Carl Justine E. Ramos from Marisol Bliss Elementary School
- Ayezza V. Salvador from Northville 15 Integrated School
- Mark Kevin Sejesmundo from Northville 15 Integrated School
The students also received via house to house distribution, certificates and financial rewards from the city government.
This is the third time that Mayor Lazatin has been implementing the project.
The other outstanding students will receive their medal of excellence, certificate of recognition, and financial assistance in the coming days.
Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego explained that the criteria to receive the Medal of Excellence is as follows: 40% for outstanding performance in Mathematics, Science, Computer/Information Technology, and English; 25% for Organization/Participation within the campus and outside the campus; 15% for history of leadership; 10% for campus contribution; 5% for the call of the student body; and 5% for faculty’s preference.
Bonus-Llego furthered that the candidates for the medal must be chosen from a sample of the top 10 percent graduating students of an institution both in elementary and high school levels. Only two recipients may be submitted by the school administration – one from the whole population of the graduating elementary batch and one from the finishing high school batch.
