Mayor Pogi calls MNA 2022 ‘Angeles City’s own reemergence’

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. sees the Mutya Ning Angeles 2022 not just a prestigious pageant continuation after two stagnant years due to the pandemic, but as the city’s own reemergence into the new normal setting.

Mayor Pogi made the statement on October 3, 2022 during the media presentation of the 18 official candidates of the MNA at the Best Western Hotel in Barangay Balibago.

After a two-year hiatus, the mayor said Angeles City is coming with renewed vigor, likewise making a comeback in MNA in its grandest form.

Mayor Pogi claimed that the pageant remains relevant for the Angeleño youth, seeing that most of the official candidates are currently students.

“Marami po sa [ating] mga candidates ngayong taon ay mga estudyante at nakakatuwa po because this means that the pageant remains relevant for the Angeleño youth,” the mayor shared.

According to Mayor Pogi, the candidates are some of the best talents and beauties that Angeles City has to offer, serving as role models for young Angeleños, but, more importantly, standing as representatives of the Angeleño youth to the world.

He also said that the city envisions to produce beauty queens representing Angeles City in the national and international stage.

“A ‘Miss World’ from Angeles City or a ‘Miss Universe’ from Angeles City. Or, even better, both. Seeing our candidates today, I think we can all agree na hindi imposible ang pangarap na ito,” the mayor stressed.

Lazatin further thanked the hardworking Organizing Committee throughout the planning and preparation, the screening of candidates. “Without your dedication, none of this would be possible,” he expressed.

The committee is headed by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Chief Adviser IC Calaguas. Also part of the committee are Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Head Irish Bonus-Llego, ACTO Consultant Cecille Flores-Sanchez, Frederick Policarpio, Rosette Ramos-Biag, Marlon Tuazon, G.R Esguerra, Poklong Guina, and Marna Dagumboy-Del Rosario.

Beautéderm Corporation led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan, which is the co-presenter of the pageant, was also highlighted by Lazatin in supporting every step of the way for the success of the upcoming pageant, including the sponsors and the Barangay Officials.
The pageant, with ₱1 million worth of prizes for the grand winner, is set on Dec. 8, 2022 at the Grand Palazzo Royale. (Angeles City Information Office)
