Mayor Pogi gives 1k pay raise to city health volunteers

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will be giving additional P1,000 honoraria to 141 City health volunteers assisting in the vaccination sites starting on October 1. These volunteers include 43 Barangay Health Workers, 49 Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and 49 Barangay Population Officers.

In Memorandum Nos. 1318, 1319, 1320, Mayor Lazatin expressed his recognition to the 141 volunteers who have been dedicating their services in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount may be small compared to their efforts amid the pandemic, Lazatin said, but this will not falter the city government from showing gratitude to their endless service.

“Maliit na bagay lamang po ito kumpara sa inyong iniaalay na serbisyo para sa siyudad buhat nang pandemya,” Lazatin furthered.

Currently, the 43 Barangay Health Workers, 49 Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and 49 Barangay Population Officers have been receiving P4,000 monthly salary.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program, said this is a little reward to their hard work and valor in this trying time, serving as frontliners in the vaccination roll-out in the 33 barangays and on-site.

These employees, according to Calaguas, are part of the ongoing vaccination program.
“These people are vital in our vaccination efforts,” Calaguas said.

To date, out of the 462,928 Angeleños, the city government has vaccinated 176,998 for the first dose of vaccines while 94,782 were fully vaccinated.

It can be recalled that amid the pandemic, Mayor Lazatin has raised the salary of 111 nurses to P12,000.

Some 76 day care workers who assisted the city government during the food packages distribution also received a P1,000 honoraria. (Angeles City Information Office)
