Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. commenced today the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance, five kilos of rice and Vitamin C supplements to some 485 registered bedridden senior citizens in the 33 barangays.
Mayor Lazatin said this initiative is in line with the city government’s efforts at prioritizing the needs of the elderly under the new normal setting.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, recently presided the meeting over the distribution of the assistance, said it started in the barangays with the largest population such as Cutud (9); Pulung Cacutud (15); and Sapalibutad (13).
The bedridden elderly will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests that will be provided by the City Health Office, led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, headed by Rodolfo Simeon.
The welfare of the elderly has been a priority of Mayor Lazatin, administering free vaccines against flu and pneumonia even before the pandemic, with a total of 7,811 senior citizens availing the Anti-Flu and Anti-Pneumonia vaccination.
Amid the pandemic, the city government also carried out a house-to-house distribution of Vitamin C to 25,000 indigent senior citizens.
