Mayor Pogi inspects dog pound site

On October 13, Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. visited the construction site of the Angeles City Dog Pound at the City Hall Compound to inspect its development.

He was joined by Chief Adviser and Political Tactician IC Calaguas, Executive Asst. IV Reina Manuel, City Engineer Donato Dizon, and Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles.

The City Veterinary Office has also scheduled a month-long calendar of anti-rabies vaccinations in the city’s 33 barangays.

In fact, Mayor Lazatin has allotted P5 million for the free neutering and spaying of 1,000 pets, as well as free anti-rabies vaccines for 30,000 pets in the city.

The Lazatin administration will provide free spaying and neutering to pets in the City, prioritizing stray pets within the premises of the City Hall compound.

The city government wants to promote responsible pet ownership among Angeleño households through these free programs for pets.

Calaguas and Manuel, both known animal lovers and rescuers, have been coordinating with the City Veterinary Office to push for the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) accreditation of the city’s dog pound. Once accredited, the City Vet will be in charge of accrediting backyard breeders.

“Kapag nagawa at natapos na ang accreditation ng City Animal Pound, mas marami tayong hayop na maalagaan at matutulungan ,” Calaguas said.
