Mayor Pogi orders crime prevention drills in schools

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has ordered the conduct of drills in all elementary, high school, colleges, and universities in August to ensure the students’ safety against crimes and emergencies.

“Our schools’ vicinity should be a safe space for our children,” Lazatin underscored.

In the meeting presided on July 26, 2022 by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, it was decided that the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) led by Rodolfo Simeon; City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Edna Duaso; and the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) led by Colonel Diosdado Fabian will hold the simulation exercise on actual shooting scenario and kidnapping situation on August 3, 2022.

“Nais po ni Mayor Lazatin na handa tayo sa mga ganitong pagkakataon upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga mag-aaral natin sa paaralan,” Calaguas said.

The CSWDO was also tasked by Mayor Lazatin to hold a stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible trauma on children.

Further, the disaster personnel, law enforcers, and social workers will also receive much additional trainings to equip them with necessary skills and needed logistics.

During his inaugural speech for his second term, Mayor Lazatin reiterated crime prevention as one of his flagship programs.
