Mayor Pogi orders Prime Water to install more water hydrants

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on June 7, 2022 has ordered Prime Water to install additional community fire hydrants for better protection of Angeleños in case of emergencies.

In a letter addressed to Prime Water, Lazatin also ordered them to ensure that all installed fire hydrants throughout the city are operational with adequate water supply.

“Napakaimportante pong masiguro na enough po ang mga fire hydrants natin at ang water supply nito kung sakali pong kailanganin sa panahon ng sakuna,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin mentioned that this is for the benefit of his constituents, ensuring their safety and welfare in the midst of fire incidents, especially when it comes to the fire hydrants’ availability and regular maintenance.

In fact, Lazatin instructed City Engineer Donato Dizon and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer-in-Charge Rodolfo Simeon to inspect and monitor the city’s fire hydrants.

“It is necessary that we monitor the availability and regular maintenance of the fire hydrants in our city — all should be accessible and operational — as mandated by the law,” Lazatin said.

In the recent months, several fires have occurred throughout the city with the prompt response of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Angeles City and the ACDRRMO, assisted by nearby fire department and volunteers.

Further, BFP-AC Chief Inspector Errick Derro underscored the importance of fire hydrants, being a stable source of water that is easily accessible during emergencies since fire hazards are present in many places.

The establishment of fire hydrants from water service providers, he said, is also pursuant to the law.
