The Angeles City government will award lot certificates to some 87 informal settler-families in Barangay Cutud. This, after Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. signed a Memorandum of Agreement to purchase the 10,660 sqm land that the families are occupying.
A representative of the heirs of Ignacio and Amelia Guiao, who own the land, signed the agreement on their behalf.
Immediately after the signing, Mayor Lazatin turned over a cheque amounting to ₱5,694,800 to the family representative, who in turn handed over the land title.
The city government is set to award the certificates of lot to the 87 families soon.
“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kapakanan ng mga Angeleños na nangangailangan ng sariling bahay,” Lazatin said.
According to Local Urban Poor Affairs and Housing Office Deputy Roque Nava, the families will receive certificates of lot depending on the measurement of the house they are occupying.
This is not the first time that the Lazatin administration assisted in the relocation of informal settler-families in Angeles City. In February 2022, 3,000 families in Amsic were relocated on-site; while 230 displaced families in Barangay Margot received ₱7,000 in cash aid and were relocated in Sapangbato.
Mayor Lazatin will continue to undertake programs to uplift the condition of the underprivileged and homeless citizens in urban areas and in resettlement areas by making available to them decent housing at affordable cost, basic services, employment and opportunities, and to reduce if not totally eradicate squatting in the city.
Also present during the signing of contract to sell are Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles, City Councilors Atty. Arvin Suller, JC Aguas and Marino Bañola, and Barangay Cutud Captain Joen June Ferraris. (Angeles City Information Office)
