Mayor Pogi to open new, improved evac center in Mining.

The Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., will formally open the new designated evacuation center with complete and improved facilities in Barangay Mining on September 22, 2022.

This was confirmed during the ocular visit of Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles.

“Just in time for the rainy season, I was tasked by Mayor Lazatin to iron out the upcoming opening of the evacuation center in Barangay Mining,” Manuel said.

Manuel furthered that Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure the readiness of the center in the event of any emergencies and natural calamities.

Earlier, Mayor Lazatin instructed Manuel and City Engineer Donato Dizon to supervise the renovation and improvement of the main evacuation center of the city in Barangay Mining.

The said center, with complete and improved facilities, has a kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids.

There is also a clinic in the center which has readily available medicines.

Aside from the main evacuation center in Mining, the city also has alternate evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya 2, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic and Anunas.

Meanwhile, Simeon further thanked the administration of Mayor Lazatin in giving priority to the disaster mitigation and preparedness plan of the city against emergencies and natural calamities.

The evacuation center will be managed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso.
