Mayor Pogi wants 24/7 police visibility in Angeles City

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. orders. wants 24/7 police visibility in the city’s streets to deter crime, accidents and disaster.

This was stressed by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas on July 26, 2022 during a meeting with the officials of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) and six police station commanders in the city.

“Nais po natin na mas mapanatili yung 24/7 na pagroronda ng mga kapulisan natin nang sa gayon ay hindi maengganyo ang pananalisi ng masasamang gawain,” Mayor Lazatin said.

Calaguas was tasked by Mayor Lazatin to set up the emergency hotline where every Angeleño can get help in any kind of emergency – be it natural hazards, such as earthquakes, fires, floods, landslides, or crime and violence.

The said hotline will be linked to the city’s command center and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) for emergency response.

In line with this, disaster personnel, fire fighters, and law enforcers will receive trainings to respond quickly and communicate properly to prevent loss of human lives.

Mayor Lazatin is also demanding the ACPO to respond to emergency calls within a maximum of 15 because every minute of delay may lead to the loss of human lives.

To complement this, Lazatin said that his administration will provide weekly gas allocation to police service vehicles.

“Our city’s support to the Philippine National Police will be steadfast,” Lazatin vowed.

Apart from this, Lazatin also instructed the ACPO with the ACDRRMO to prepare a series of drills in all elementary, high school, colleges and universities.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) will also be tapped by Lazatin to conduct stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible trauma on children.

Also present during the meeting are ACDRRMO Head Rudy Simeon, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, and Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center Head Michael Lising.
