Orders Angeles City cops to conduct SimEx on active shooter and anti-crime
Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. wants to ensure the students’ safety against crimes and emergencies in the school premises.
In line with this, Mayor Lazatin on September 29, 2022 ordered Angeles City Police Officer-in-Charge (ACPO) PCol. Juritz Rara to conduct a simulation exercise (SimEx) on active shooter and anti-criminality action plan at Angeles City National Trade School.
PCol. Rara was with the members of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, led by Rudy Simeon, and staff from City Social Welfare and Development Office during the SimEx.
The city government, in coordination with all the schools, is set to conduct drills in all elementary, high school, colleges, and universities, maintaining schools as safe spaces to the children.
The CSWDO, headed by Edna Duaso, was also tasked by Mayor Lazatin to hold a stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible trauma on children.
Further, the disaster personnel, law enforcers, and social workers will also receive much additional trainings to equip them with necessary skills and needed logistics.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin announced this crime prevention program during his inaugural speech for his second term, delivering this as part of his flagship programs. (Angeles City Information Office)
