Modern PAGASA building to rise in QC

A new, six-storey building is set to provide a safe and modern office space for Philippine weather bureau PAGASA.

To be built at the agency’s Science Garden Complex in Diliman, Quezon City by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Buildings Management Cluster, Public Works Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said the project, with a gross floor area of 8,608 square meters, is now 38 percent accomplished.

“This new PAGASA building will provide our scientists a facility for they deserve considering their significant role for the protection of life and property,” Bonoan said.

When completed, the building will also have an auditorium and additional rooms to comfortably accommodate personnel of the country’s official weather bureau.

According to the DPWH, the scope of works for the Php269 million project includes a reinforced concrete foundation and building frame from the ground floor to the sixth floor with a roof deck, dry wall, masonry walls, architectural and water proofing works, curtain wall façade, mechanical works, plumbing and sanitary works, drainage system, and electronic works.
