MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 sets highest prize pool, honors cycling icon

The 2026 MPTC Tour of Luzon is set to offer the largest prize pool in its history, with ₱2 million awarded to the Team General Classification champion and ₱1 million to the Individual General Classification winner, organizers announced.

Chief Organizer and CEO Arrey Perez said the increased incentives aim to elevate Philippine cycling, with teams placing second to tenth receiving ₱1.5 million to ₱100,000, while individual finishers in the same range will earn ₱500,000 to ₱100,000.

Jersey winners will also receive significant prizes, including ₱300,000 for the Sprint King, ₱200,000 for the Best Young Rider, and ₱350,000 for the King of the Mountain (KOM) champion. Stage races will likewise recognize top performers through awards such as Best Young Rider (Under 23), Best Sprint, and Most Combative Rider, along with the coveted Yellow Jersey for stage leaders.

This year’s tour will also pay tribute to cycling legend Paquito Rivas, with the Polka Dot Jersey for the King of the Mountain named in his honor. Known as the “Eagle of the Mountain,” Rivas dominated high-altitude climbs and won the Burgos–Baguio Individual Time Trial three times, cementing his legacy in Philippine cycling.

Dubbed “Heritage in Motion,” the 2026 edition blends record-breaking incentives with a tribute to the sport’s greats, aiming to inspire a new generation of Filipino cyclists.
