Angeles City government held a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing of the city’s main evacuation center in Mining on Thursday September 22, 2022.
The opening of the main evacuation center was led by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin and Office for Civil Defense Regional Director Cesar Idio served as the guest of honor.
Mayor Lazatin wanted to ensure that the center is ready in the event of any emergencies and natural calamities.
The center will be managed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso. It was designed with complete and improved facilities like kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids. It has an in-house clinic with readily available medicines.
Aside from the main evacuation center in Mining, the city also has alternate evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya 2, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic and Anunas.
Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer Rudy Simeon further thanked the administration of Mayor Lazatin in giving priority to the disaster mitigation and preparedness plan of the city against emergencies and natural calamities.
The event was also attended by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega- Cabigting, City Councilor Marino Bañola, Department of the Interior and Local Government Angeles City Director Darwin David, Mayor Pogi’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Cong. Jon’s Chief-of-Staff Jannie Sarmiento, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and ACDRRMO officer Rudy Simeon.
Also present during the ribbon cutting ceremony are Duaso, Engr. Dizon, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, Information and Communication Technology Division Chief Michael Lising, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, Angeles City Fire Director FSupt.
