“I believe that when an employee is happy, satisfied and content with the services given to them, most likely, they can deliver well in realizing the university’s vision to become one of the top 1,000 sustainable universities not only in the Asia-Pacific region but in the world,” the official said.

Velasco added that such an ambitious goal can be achieved by honing staff and sending them to graduate programs in various universities.

He reviewed the scholarship contract of the university, and proposed a plan to attract personnel to continue developing their academic credentials by enrolling in graduate studies.

This is to motivate them to accept a scholarship under a graduate program.

Furthermore, he plans to review and revise the criteria, process of selection, hiring and promotion of faculty and non-teaching personnel to diminish the number of job orders in the university.

“For my first year, personally as a president, I will make recommendations to human resources, which I believe helpful in encouraging our employees to do more, and to boost the morale of those who are really deserving to be promoted and to be hired from a job order to a permanent position,” he said.

Velasco emphasized that under his helm, he wants to inspire employees to deliver quality services by providing a conducive working environment, supporting their personal development, and helping them towards their career growth.  (PIA 3)
