Calls for arrest of killers of its own member – JESS MALABANAN

The Pampanga Press Club strongly condemns the senseless killing of veteran radio commentator Percival Mabasa, popularly known as Percy Lapid, who was shot dead on Monday night in Las Piñas City.

Such dastardly act should have no place in our democratic society as members of media will not be deterred in pursuing truth and justice for all.

The PPC would like to extend its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family.

The killing of Percy reminds us of the death of our very own Jesus “Jess” Malabanan, who was shot in the vicinity of his home in Samar on Dec. 8, 2021. 

Although a warrant of arrest has been issued several months ago against the suspect/s behind Mr. Malabanan’s death, the police have yet to make any arrest. 

We are thus calling on the Philippine National Police and other authorities to renew and intensify action that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of these cowardly acts in the interest of justice.
