To mark its 42nd provincial founding anniversary, Pi Sigma Fraternity-Pampanga Chapter, also known as the Paragon of Scholars, distributed free hospital and anti COVID-19 items to medical frontliners at Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA)

Dr. Tristan Tulud, the fraternity’s past president and resident physician at ONA, led some 40 members of Pi Sigma in distributing Isopropyl alcohol by the gallons, face masks, dispensers, and food packs to around 150 nurses, doctors and medical staff.

“Our modest Tribute to Frontliners project embodies the nature of Pi Sigma to serve the people. What better way to do that than to serve those frontliners directly on the warpath against the pandemic, ” Tulud remarked.

Pi Sigma was founded by student leaders at the University of the Philippines in Diliman in 1972, a month before martial law was declared. The organization’s mottos are “Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan” and “Paragon of Scholarship.”

Tulud added that his group has also been conducting community outreach activities in various depressed communities in Pampanga since the 1990s.

“It feels good to help your fellowmen without fanfare or anything in return,” he said, and added “this is what Pi Sigma stands for since 1972.”

Some of Pi Sigma’s more prominent members are the late Senator Raul Roco, and Ambassador Elmer Cato, a journalist-diplomat and a fellow Angeleño.
