Representatives from PLDT-Smart Communications paid a visit to Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino to discuss a proposed partnership aimed at bringing modern technology, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), into local governance.
Under Mayor Geld’s leadership, the city government continues to push for digital transformation to enhance public services for Mabalaqueños. Through the collaboration, both parties aim to introduce and implement AI across various aspects of city operations.
Among the initiatives discussed were AI training programs for local government employees, equipping them with skills in data analysis, planning, and faster decision-making. The provision of “connectivity kits” was also proposed to ensure reliable internet access and the availability of AI tools needed to support these programs.
The meeting also tackled plans for a wide-reaching information campaign against online and text scams, which continue to affect many residents. The initiative seeks to boost public awareness and provide citizens with the knowledge to avoid digital fraud.
Mayor Aquino underscored the importance of protecting residents from scams while expanding digital services in the city.
Also present during the meeting were Councilors Patricia Acorda and Errol Soliven, City Administrator Oscar Deang Jr., and City Engineer Rod De Leon.
