In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure safe and peaceful elections, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday, May 7, declared 100% readiness for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections.
The announcement was made during the activation of the PNP Media Action Center at Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame, led by PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil. General Marbil highlighted the strategic deployment of around 163,000 police personnel nationwide.
Police Regional Offices conducted send-off ceremonies for their personnel assigned to polling precincts and areas of concern. In addition to the PNP force, over 38,000 personnel from various government agencies will be deployed to assist with security, traffic, and emergency response during the election period.
General Marbil also announced the intensified “Kontra Bigay” operations beginning May 9, aimed at preventing vote-buying and selling. He urged the public to report any suspicious election-related activities via the PNP E-911 hotline.
The PNP also unveiled its upgraded E-911 emergency response system, capable of receiving and responding swiftly to incidents nationwide — including reports of vote-buying under the Kontra Bigay campaign. This system is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring rapid response to any election-related emergencies.
Chief PNP Marbil issued a firm reminder to all police personnel: “No violence, no killings — before, during, and after election day. It is our duty to ensure honest, orderly, and peaceful elections.”
He also reiterated the PNP’s strict policy of political neutrality, stressing that any form of partisan activity is strictly prohibited. Officers found violating this policy will face immediate investigation and possible dismissal from service.
“Our loyalty is to the people — not to any politician. It is our duty to uphold the law and protect the sanctity of every vote,” General Marbil emphasized.
The PNP Media Action Center will serve as the main hub for real-time updates, media coordination, and public information throughout the election period.
