Seasonal farm workers from Lubao fly to South Korea- The Voice Newsweekly

Lubao Mayor Esmeralda G. Pineda led on Friday, February 24, the send-off of 44 seasonal farm workers to work in South Korea. The said workers took a provincial government-owned bus en route to the airport.

A day before their flight, Mayor Pineda talked with 139 workers which include the batch of 44 to remind them of their obligation for their employers.

She urged the workers to follow South Korean immigration and labor laws. She also reminded them that they can report to her if they have any concerns regarding their employment in South Korea.

The workers were deployed to the city of Goryeong-gun, where Mayor Lee Nam-Cheol personally received them upon their arrival in Korea.

“Magpasalamat ya pu ing Balen ning Lubao, king Guinu uling miras lang mapayapa at ligtas deng 44 tamung kabalen a seasonal workers keng South Korea,” Mayor Pineda said.

She also expressed her gratitude to Governor Dennis Pineda for supporting the municipal government in this employment program.

Mayor Pineda signed agreements with various city governments in South Korea for the employment of seasonal farm workers .

“Panalangin tamu pu ing gabayan nala ning Diyos keng karelang pamagobra at maging ligtas la kabang makalawut la keng karelang pamilya,” the mayor said.

The Seasonal Worker Program is the scheme where local governments in the Republic of Korea invite seasonal workers from overseas to legally work in farming and fishing villages for 90 days (C-4 visa) or up to 5 months (E-8 visa), allowing diligent seasonal workers to find employment every year in the ROK.
