Angeles City gov’t files raps against 3 men for slaughtering dog for ‘pulutan’

The City government here on February 9, 2023 officially filed charges against three men for allegedly slaughtering and cooking a dog for a drinking session or ‘pulutan’.

The case was filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Angeles City by City Veterinary Officer Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla and City Legal Officer Atty. Ralph Macalino, stating violations of Section 6 of Republic Act No. 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, which penalizes the maltreatment, killing, and consumption of pet animals.

From plastic to rice: Angeles City collects 1.7M kilos in one year

Angeles City’s Walang Plastikan — Plastik Palit Bigas project, which was launched by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin, Jr. last year, has already collected a total of 1,776,209 kilos of plastic in a year. 

Mayor Lazatin said that these 1,776,209 kilos of plastic were exchanged for 1,776,209 kilos of rice by the residents of the 33 barangays who participated in the project.
