On behalf of Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles on September 28 led the payout of 500 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program from the 33 barangays of the city.
He was joined by the members of the Public Employment and Services Office, headed by Maridor Basilio.
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not exceeding a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
The beneficiaries should also signify their intention to avail of skills training to prepare towards self or wage employment after the project.
With the conclusion of the employment project, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or its accredited training institutions will be tapped to conduct the skills training for the TUPAD beneficiaries under its Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).
