188,370 doses of Pfizer vaxx arrive
The United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) lauded the Philippine government’s sustained efforts to ramp up the country’s vaccination rollout which aims to achieve population protection by year-end.
During the arrival of 188,370 doses of donated Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility on Thursday evening, September 2, UNICEF Philippines Health and Nutrition Chief Malalay Ahmadzai said “Let me thank the Philippine government for all the efforts to get the population vaccinated.”
“The vaccines are safe and people need to make an effort to get vaccinated so we can break the cycle of the pandemic. There has been a lot of efforts going on in the vaccines to make sure that every person in the Philippines receives vaccines,” Ahmadzai added.
This latest shipment brings to 2,660,580 the total number of donated Pfizer doses coming from the COVAX facility.
The Philippines has so far received 52,792,130 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers. (PIA Tarlac)
