Unity drives aid distribution for Angeles City transport sector

Amid the continued rise in fuel prices, the Angeles City Government, in partnership with national and provincial officials, reinforced the value of unity and cooperation in delivering assistance to the transport sector.

The simultaneous fuel subsidy payout, led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), was attended by key officials including DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Pampanga Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II, Congressman Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., and DSWD Regional Director Venus Rebuldela.

A total of 1,957 members of various Transport Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) received financial assistance aimed at cushioning the impact of rising fuel costs and daily expenses.

Secretary Gatchalian personally visited Angeles City, which he cited as one of the region’s best practices in implementing aid distribution. Despite his busy schedule, he stayed to commend Mayor Lazatin for ensuring a fast, organized, and efficient payout, held in an air-conditioned venue for the comfort of beneficiaries.

Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude to the DSWD and its regional office, as well as to Governor Pineda, Congressman Lazatin, and all stakeholders, including transport leaders and drivers, for their cooperation in making the program successful.

He emphasized that the continued collaboration among national and local government units ensures that assistance reaches those who need it most, especially as fuel prices and the cost of living continue to rise.

Officials underscored that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to responsive and compassionate public service, highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing the needs of Filipino communities.
