The University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) has officially opened its Sports Medicine and Wellness Center in New Clark City, significantly enhancing access to basic medical and dental services for communities in Tarlac and Pampanga.
Strategically located within the National Government Administrative Center, the clinic now offers walk-in consultations, wellness check-ups, pre-employment exams, and physical assessments to the public. The facility aims to serve a growing population that includes employees from new business locators, athletes utilizing New Clark City’s premier sports infrastructure, students from the National Academy of Sports, and residents from nearby barangays.
“This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a thriving and healthy community in New Clark City,” said Joshua M. Bingcang, President and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). “By providing accessible basic medical services, UP-PGH significantly contributes to addressing the fundamental needs of our residents, employees, and visitors—ensuring that public well-being grows alongside economic development.”
The clinic operates in-person consultations every Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and offers telemedicine services from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM—providing flexible healthcare options for the area’s busy and diverse population.
This facility marks the latest step in a broader plan to transform New Clark City into a comprehensive sports and urban hub, with future plans to develop the site into a 200-bed hospital and establish a dedicated Sports Medicine Facility.
The Sports Medicine and Wellness Center’s operations were made official through a Memorandum of Agreement signed in December 2019 between the New Clark Government Center Corporation, a joint venture of BCDA and MTD Clark Inc., and the University of the Philippines.
The clinic was initially managed by UP during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, and later repurposed by the Municipality of Capas during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As New Clark City continues its transformation into a fully integrated urban center, UP’s continued management and expansion of the clinic affirms its long-term vision of delivering world-class, community-centered healthcare services in the region.
