Perennial flooding and economic growth can be directly addressed through close coordination with mayors of Mabalacat and Angeles City, says San Fernando City mayoral candidate Jimmy Lazatin.
In a one on one interview on the All Politics is Local program on OneNews telecast Wednesday night, incumbent Vice Mayor Lazatin spoke to hosts Cheryl Cosim and Jay Taruc on the interconnected nature of local economies compels him to work with neighboring mayors.
He said “The flooding in the city is not just the problem of San Fernando but its neighboring cities and municipalities as well… we need a flood summit to finally address this issue. ”
Decongestion of waterways to remove waste and improve water flow will need community cooperation, Lazatin added.
He also cited the role of his city in the economic master plan for San Fernando, Mabalacat, and Angeles City formalized by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Lazatin recalled “It is part of the Megalopolis Master Plan na ginawa po ng ating butihing presidente dati ni GMA (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) pina-commission niya kay Palafox ang San Fernando as part of the golden triangle, ibig sabihin San Fernando, Angeles at Mabalacat po”
He also said improved services and access to the regional medical center can be dovetailed with efficient barangay centers where medical tests and free medicines should be immediately given.
According to Lazatin “We need to strengthen our Barangay Health Centers for the convenience of our seniors, PWD and people with simple ailments to be treated right away, they do not need to travel far from their homes.… I believe prevention is better than the cure.”
About online gambling, Lazatin said he will seek clear guidance from concerned national regulatory agencies on how law enforcement can be effectively done.
Lazatin clarified “We cannot go beyond the law…ito po ay baguhan po lahat sa atin… The national government and congress, maybe we can pass a resolution requesting the congress to implement rules and regulations regarding this – kunyari ang minor di puwedeng tumaya and so on and so forth.”
Lazatin said his advantages on experience and track record make him the most qualified to serve as the next mayor of San Fernando, Pampanga.
