Mayor Esmie Pineda celebrated her birthday by leading the distribution of educational subsidies to support the dreams of approximately 2000 college students in Lubao, Pampanga.
The educational subsidies were made possible through the municipality’s Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP), with the local government allocating P4-million for this purpose.
The distribution took place in two venues, with the Santa Cruz gymnasium hosting the students from the western barangays, while the municipal gymnasium gathered the students from the eastern portion of Lubao.
The processing of the subsidy applications began in April, with a total of 2500 slots initially offered. However, after careful evaluation, only close to 2000 students qualified to receive the financial grants.
Under the program, each student received P2000 for the upcoming semester, as well as an additional P2000 before the start of the second semester.
These funds aim to alleviate the financial burden on the students, particularly those belonging to the poorest families in the community. Most of the beneficiaries are enrolled at the prestigious Don Honorio Ventura State University.
It is important to note that students included in the special program for the employment of students (SPES) were excluded from this specific subsidy.
Mayor Pineda, in her commitment to supporting the dreams of every student in Lubao, promised to allocate the remaining slots from the initial 2500 for graduating college students. This gesture highlights her dedication to empowering the youth and ensuring equal opportunities for all in pursuing their education.
The educational subsidy distribution event showcased Mayor Pineda’s genuine care for the future of the community’s youth. Her birthday celebration was not just a moment for personal joy but a testament to her commitment to improving the lives of the people she serves.
With this support, the college students of Lubao Pampanga can now focus on their studies and pursue their ambitions with renewed hope.
