The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has honored the Angeles City government as a High Performing Peace and Order Council (POC) in Central Luzon for the year 2023, highlighting the city’s dedication to ensuring peace, safety, and security for its residents.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. expressed his gratitude for the recognition, commending the collective efforts of the Angeles City Police Office, barangay officials, city government employees, and key offices in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
“This recognition reflects the unity and determination of our city in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all Angeleños. We remain committed to prioritizing peace and order as a means to drive progress and unity in our city,” Mayor Lazatin said.
The DILG’s POC Performance Audit evaluates councils based on their organization, meetings, policies, plans, budget, general supervision, and innovation. Angeles City’s high functionality rating in these areas showcases its effective governance and proactive approach in addressing peace and order issues.
This accolade adds to the city’s growing list of achievements, following its consecutive receipt of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in previous years, further affirming its commitment to excellence in public service and governance.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his administration’s pledge to continue implementing programs and strategies that foster peace, safety, and the well-being of all residents, ensuring a safer and more progressive city for everyone.
The Peace and Order Council recognition marks the 39th award for the city government under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership.
