The Department of Trade & Industry has recognized Angeles City, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., as the 5th Most Improved Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in the country based on its performance in the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). This latest accolade marks the third time that Mayor Lazatin’s administration has earned this prestigious title, underscoring a consistent drive for progress and development.
The award ceremony, held last November 11 at SMX Convention Center – Clark, brought together the city’s leadership team. Mayor Lazatin was joined by Business Permit and Licensing Division Chief Enrico Romero, Quality Management System Representative Chrysalene Cunanan, and City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Nilda Quito.
CMCI, developed by the National Competitiveness Council and supported by the USAID, evaluates cities on four essential pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency. This recognition reflects Angeles City’s significant strides across these categories, building a stronger foundation for sustainable growth and competitiveness.
