Baguio’s renowned homegrown pizzeria and a specialty cafe and restaurant are set to open soon in Camp John Hay, after securing a 15-year commercial lease agreement with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). This move underscores the growing interest from both large investors and small- and medium-sized enterprises in the area.
On January 8, 2025, BCDA signed fresh contracts with Amare La Cucina for the lease of a 1,500-square-meter lot, and with Top Taste and Trading Inc. for an 800-square-meter property in Camp John Hay. These agreements mark a positive step forward for the revitalization of the iconic location.
“This is really a vote of confidence from investors coming in after the change of management at Camp John Hay. We are thrilled that more businesses are choosing to set up operations here because of the trust they place in BCDA,” said BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang. “Our vision for Camp John Hay is to create an environment where enterprises of all sizes can thrive while also empowering the local community with more job opportunities. At the same time, we remain committed to preserving and protecting the forest watershed of Camp John Hay as the city’s green lung.”
The recent lease agreements come on the heels of BCDA’s first long-term residential lease with Metro Pacific Investment Corporation Director Victorico “Ricky” Vargas, further highlighting the rising investor confidence in Camp John Hay. These developments follow the BCDA’s recent Supreme Court victory, which enabled the government agency to regain control of the 247-hectare property from CJH Development Corporation.
