BCDA COMMENDS COLLABORATIVE GOVERNMENT EFFORTS IN SUCCESSFUL CAMP JOHN HAY RECOVERY

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has lauded the exceptional coordination between various government agencies and local government units that led to the smooth and efficient recovery of the Camp John Hay property in Baguio City.

BCDA Chairperson Hilario B. Paredes emphasized that the whole-of-government approach was crucial to ensuring a peaceful recovery operation, which took place on January 6, 2025. He expressed his appreciation to all parties involved for their roles in the successful operation.

“I am thrilled and grateful that the recovery process was swift and peaceful, with minimal disruption to businesses, employees, and guests. Despite the complexities of reclaiming control of a 247-hectare property, this was a successful operation,” said Atty. Paredes.

He credited the successful outcome to the hard work of BCDA and John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) staff. He also extended his thanks to the Baguio City Regional Trial Court sheriffs for carrying out their duties fairly and professionally, as well as to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Cordillera Administrative Region and Baguio City for maintaining peace and security throughout the recovery process.

Atty. Paredes expressed that the recovery marked “a huge victory for the government and the Filipino people,” calling it “a historic achievement and a lasting legacy for all those who made this possible.”

The BCDA regained control of Camp John Hay following the October 22, 2024 Supreme Court resolution, which authorized the state-run agency to recover the 247-hectare property. The implementation of the writ of execution and notice to vacate was carried out by the court sheriff in accordance with the ruling.
