BCDA SECURES FIRST 25-YEAR RESIDENTIAL LESSEE FOR CAMP JOHN HAY FOREST CABIN UNITS

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has successfully secured its first long-term residential lease for Camp John Hay, marking a significant step forward in the redevelopment of the iconic destination.

Metro Pacific Investment Corp. (MPIC) Director Victorico “Ricky” Vargas recently signed a 25-year lease agreement with BCDA for two Forest Cabin units, which were previously leased under the CJH Development Corporation (CJH DevCo). This new lease follows the Supreme Court’s favorable ruling that allowed BCDA to regain control of the Camp John Hay property.

The agreement underscores BCDA’s commitment to revitalizing Camp John Hay as a prime investment and tourism destination. With this milestone, the BCDA continues to build on its proven track record of attracting investor confidence to the area.

The Forest Cabin complex, located within the expansive 247-hectare Camp John Hay, spans 1.47 hectares and consists of 56 high-quality residential units, each averaging 270 square meters. This development blends residential living with the natural beauty and eco-tourism opportunities that Baguio is known for.

“BCDA remains fully committed to ensuring that your conditions will improve even more in the years ahead. Our goal is not only to grow together but to provide a stable and thriving environment for all our partners,” said BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang.

Bingcang also highlighted the agency’s focus on fostering a cooperative business environment and shared that more lease agreements of this nature are expected to follow. He further encouraged previous lessees under CJH DevCo to engage with BCDA for a smooth transition.

The formal signing of the residential lease was led by BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang, with BCDA Chairperson Hilario B. Paredes and Landco Lifestyle Ventures Head Patrick Gregorio in attendance.

This development comes after the Supreme Court ruling on December 12, 2024, which upheld an arbitral decision ordering CJH DevCo to vacate the property, reinforcing the importance of legal agreements and the integrity of BCDA’s operations.
