BFAR OIC-Provincial Fishery Officer Rex Sabbaluca said the program aims to provide the POs, composed of former rebels and mass supporters, with crucial start-up capital in the form of fresh fish.

Unlike conventional financial assistance programs, the agencyโ€™s approach is unique in its direct provision of fish stocks to beneficiaries which enable them to leverage these resources in various ways, whether by selling them fresh, chilled, or processed.

โ€œLet us give them a chance to change for the better towards peace. We will give them hope through our understanding and acceptance, which can help them change towards their adjustment in mainstream society,โ€ Sabbaluca stressed.

Meanwhile, 91st Infantry Battalion (IB) Acting Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Aries Quinto thanked BFAR for continuously supporting the reintegration of former rebels in the province of Aurora through capacity building activities and provision of livelihood.

โ€œRest assured that the 91st IB is always here, ready to help the POs,โ€ Quinto added.

KAMPIL President “Ka Edgar”, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to BFAR and the 91st IB for their assistance and support and stressed that they will maintain and enhance this livelihood for the benefit of their organization, members, and families.
