Reinforcing the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s (SBMA) mission to transform the Freeport into a carbon-neutral economic zone by 2030, BYD Philippines officially opened its newest branch in Subic on May 19, 2025.
SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño hailed the entry of China’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer as a strategic move that aligns with the agency’s environmental goals. He emphasized that the presence of BYD, operated locally by Harmony Auto Philippines, will significantly contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in the Freeport through the promotion and sale of electric vehicles.

“The opening of BYD Subic strengthens our commitment to a cleaner, greener Subic Bay. This is more than just a business milestone—it’s a leap toward sustainable mobility and long-term environmental responsibility,” said Aliño.
The BYD Subic showroom and service center, located at the Subic Bay Gateway Park, showcases the brand’s latest lineup of electric vehicles, offering eco-conscious consumers in Central Luzon an accessible alternative to traditional fuel-powered cars.
The inauguration was led by Aliño, BYD Philippines Country Head Adam Hu, BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca, and Harmony Auto Philippines General Manager Owen Meneses. Also present were Bataan 2nd District Congressman Albert Garcia, former Hermosa Mayor Joseph Anthony Inton, Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., and members of the SBMA Board of Directors.
The Subic Bay Freeport is EV-ready, equipped with multiple public charging stations including locations at ACEA Subic Beach Resort, Harbor Point Ayala Mall, and Unioil Subic.
With this launch, BYD Philippines now operates five branches nationwide, further expanding its presence in support of the country’s shift toward sustainable transportation.
