The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan at the Plaza Mayor de Ciudad de Balanga in Bataan.
A total of 58 exhibitors, including 34 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Bataan and 24 retailers from neighboring provinces, joined the activity.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Eileen Ocampo said the caravan, organized in partnership with the city government of Balanga and Bataan Consumer Affairs Council, offered discounts of at least 10 percent, along with various promotional items.
“This program gives consumers the opportunity to avail themselves of school supplies, apparel, basic necessities, and prime commodities at discounted prices in preparation for School Year 2024-2025,” she said.
Ocampo urged all Bataeños to consistently support local products and patronize local businesses to help stimulate the local economy, create jobs, and foster community growth.
Meanwhile, DTI Bataan Consumer Protection Division OIC-Chief Gerry Santos expressed gratitude to all the exhibitors and emphasized the importance of supporting retailers and MSMEs.
“We are grateful to our exhibitors for always accepting our invitations to participate in these activities. This year, in addition to MSMEs from Bataan, we also have retailers from Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Marikina,” he added.
One of the exhibitors, Yolanda Laborcero, commended the DTI for their support and assistance to MSMEs through training, seminars, and caravans, which provide a platform for their businesses and help them grow their earnings.
The Diskwento Caravan is a regular program of the agency, organized in accordance with the seasonal events of the year. (PIA Region 3-Bataan)
